This is the sermon for the fifth Sunday in Lent. During the Lenten season we will work through the Lectionary readings in the Gospel and as we do, we will cover some foundational aspects of the Christian faith. We will journey from failure to faith. This week’s reading is from John 12:1-8 and is the anointing of Jesus’ feet at Bethany. It is a shockingly extravagant move by Mary, so what do we make of it?
