This is the fourth in the “Hope, Help, Hero” series – which is our Advent series. The scripture I am using is Matthew 1:18-25. This week I focused on how God works in surprising ways. Beginning with the genealogy in Matthew, we can see that God works through people we may not expect, and in fact, that the arrival of Jesus comes in a rather surprising manner. If God’s methods are surprising, perhaps we should not try to predict or control, but rather focus on trusting God. Maybe it’s not what we know, but who we trust.
