Pepper Draft

Pastor’s Pepper Draft 2019

Saturday, May 4 @ 1:00 in St. John’s

Welcome to the home site for the 8th Annual Pastor’s Pepper Draft!

Below you will find resources to help you be better prepared to make your draft successful.

Here is a pdf spreadsheet I have used to track the varieties, how many plants I am keeping for myself (kept), and how many plants I’ll have for the draft (draft). You can see preliminary numbers for how many of each plant will be available for the draft. Just look under the column labeled “draft” and the number there is how many of that variety are available.**

The Rules:

  • The pepper plants that are available for the draft will be on display prior to the draft.
  • Participants are encouraged to study these plants so as to choose not only the best variety, but also healthiest plant.
  • Draft order will be drawn immediately prior to the draft using ping pong balls
  • The draft order is reversed in the second round in order to even out the picks. This means the draft will go 1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1 and so on.
  • You will be given a means to mark and identify your draft selection
  • Trades are allowed.
  • Trash talking is encouraged.
  • Eat spicy food. Draft smart.
  • The pastor will graciously hold your plants until it is time to plant them out, then you are welcome to pick them up.

This draft will offer wide variety and large number of strains.  You are not shopping for peppers at Lowes.  This is not Grandma’s Greenhouse.  This is the Pepper Draft.  It is vital, therefore, that you know and understand the different peppers available for draft.  I have compiled a rough draft of the varieties, strains, and a description to go with them.  As soon as I know the numbers of each that are available, I will make that information public.

Here is a link to a pdf containing the pepper descriptions.

There is a great deal of fundamental information about peppers that it would be helpful for you to know if you want to draft your best.

Here is a page that covers some basics on hot peppers.
Here is a photo gallery of some of the peppers that have been available for draft in the past. These are all pictures of peppers right from the Pastor’s garden.

If you would like to watch videos of people eating some of the hot peppers that have been available previously:

Here is the YouTube playlist for various peppers found in the draft.
