Podcast: Reading the Bible

churchThis sermon addresses reading scripture.  We first go over 3 guidelines for reading scripture: 1. read it in context  2. ask what the text is saying  3. ask how it points to Jesus.  After that the application questions we used are: 1. where are you in God’s story  2. how does this focus you on Jesus.  As you may notice, the whole thing ends up being focused on listening to the text and on Jesus.  I then used those guidelines to look at the first part of Jeremiah 29.  My hope was that it would be an empowering sermon for people as we examined the scripture together.
